My climbing to Aconcagua with absolutelly no experience. I used a tent only 6 timess in all my life before this experience. I have never walked higher than 3.200 mt I have never coocked in a campsite and I had no idea about the word: High Mountain. It was a great experience . You can do it but please....listen to your body cause Mountain can be great and can be lethal as well!...I got 6.430 mt cause I couldn't sleep for 72 hours (because of the strong wind for 2 nights and because I slept in the refuge of Berlin the last night before the attempt...with 12 other persons and a 96Kg man slept most of the time above me....so...I couldn't breath for most of the time!!!)....I was very upset cause if I slept I could get the summit (500 mt higher) but now I think that what i did was very good anyway and maybe it's better that I didn't get the "Cumbre" cause in this way I could know my limits! Fantastic Experience!!..Thanks to all people who where close to me and a Big hugs to Vito Magni the Great Guardpark of Aconcagua :o)

Before the Departure for Aconcagua

...My feeling is a bit in trouble...the big day is coming. Tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. (argentinean Time) I'll take the bus for Mendoza (Company: Sendas - Price 195 pesos - Cama executive) At 08.30 on january 30 I should arrive to Mendoza where i'll buy the climbing permission. In Mendoza I am going to stay at Hostel Triskel I contacted them by msn and people seemed nice... I'll spend 2 days in Mendoza and then I'll go to Puente de l'incas from where my adventure will start. 39 Kg for around 33 Km are a lot....I hope my back will resist! /p>

Logistic 3: Te backpack for Aconcagua

I'll take with me 2 backpacks. The big one is 32 Kg and the small one 7 kg.

Logistic 2: the food for Aconcagua

...I'll consider food for 12 days. 4/6 days at the Base Camp of Plaza de Mulas there is a kind of Restaurant so I think I'll eat there.... 220 g of Dry food (carbohydrates) per day. I mean: Dry potatoes, dry Polenta, dry vegetable creams. Dry fruits Chocolates Protein Bars Total weight is around 5.3 Kg

Logistic 1

I have never had this kind of experience before so...the organisation is a bit difficult. First thing I'll go by myself (solo) so I have to carry everything....for this reason I must take only the necessary. I cannot take more than 25 Kg...otherwise it will be too havey! 2 sleeping bags ( 3kg in total): 1 Sleeping bag for (-30C° extrem) and 1 Sleeping Bag for (- 11C° Extreme). I'll use the lightest inside the warmest...I won't close totally the smallest otherwise the warm of my body won't be able to warm the sleeping bag but anyway it should be a better insulation. In case of really cold weather I'll also use some Chemical Toe warmers inside my sleeing bag Total weight  3.0 Kg1 Tent for high mountain for 2 persons that I'll use just for me...Anyway it's not so big if I consider all the equipement ... Maybe I'll also have to cook inside. Mountain Boots (Boots are very important cause they can save your feet from hypothermy) I am going to use the "La Sportiva Spantik" Weight 2.0 Kg . Trekking shoes, to get the Base Camp Plaza de Mulas and for most of the hike. A lot of Chemical Toe Warmers. I don't want to use the mules. People told me that they are really badly treated and sometimes the companies that organize the transfer of your stuff to the Base Camp Plaza de Mulas lose your equipement... For both reasons too I don't want to use any mule. Without mule of course it will be harder tt carry my equipement that's why I'll be slower then the other organized people....so...I think I'll get Plaza de Mulas in to step. That's not bad cause in this way I'll be able to aclimatize myself better.
First step from the start point: around 13 km. From mt 2.400 to Mt 2.870
Second step. From Camp 1 to Camp 2: around 13.5 Km. From Mt 2.900 to mt 3.250
Third Step . From Camp 2 to Plaza de Mulas: around Km 10.0. From mt 3.250 to mt 4.200
At Plaza de Mulas I plan to stay around 3/4 days to relax and acclimatize myself.
To the next Base Camp (Nido de Condores) I'll take with me only the necessary to survive 4 days and "attack" the top. I don't want to get Nido de Condores with more than 15 Kg.I'll leave the other stuff at the Refugio at Plaza de Mulas where they can store them.
Fourth step. From Plaza de Mulas to Nido de Condores . From mt 4.200 to mt 5.000
Then I'll decide if I attack the top from there in 2 days or I'll go to stay at Camp Berlin at 5.800 so I'll be closer to the summit.

That's just a plan but everything can change. I don't know the reaction of my body to that altitude and to the temperature. I am going to experience myself! This is just the attempt of a hamble and common man

Expedition to Aconcagua

From The end of January 2009 till February the 18th (Around 20 days) I'll try to get the top of Aconcagua Solo  :o) I'll try to get the summit (6960 mt) in the Alpine way, without any organized tour and without the help of the mules. For this reason I'll have to carry everything by myself.

It will be a big challenge with myself...

Aconcagua is the highest pick of Americas and the highest in the world if you don't consider the Himalaya. The training was hard. I'll have to carry between 25 and 30 Kg of stuff up to 4.300 mt. Then I'll carry around 18 Kg up 5.800 and only around 7 Kg up to the top.

I don't want any organized tour and I don't want the help of the mules cause I think that if I get it I have to do it by myself. I don't want to play at Wimbledon with Rafael Nadal helping me just behind me...cause if I win it shouldn't be my real victory...if I win I want to win by myself...otherwise it's better to partecipate without winning. I worked very hard to get the top of Aconcagua but if I won't be able to get it....every meter I'll get it will be totally mine.

I am training 5 times per week. I train with a 15 Kg backpack. s lot of floors by stairs, walking and byking. I don't want to charge more than 15 Kg cause I don't want to stress my legs too much during the training....

Next The Logistic...
