What a great Place for Trekking!! :o)  I don't like to make any organized tour. I need just a Gps, 1 good map and....I go!...Much cheaper and more exciting! ;o)

In Ushuaia area there are a lot of different trekking you can do. I choose the tour of Lapataia Bay and the hike to the Glaciar Martial. Classic treks but very nice. You can also go to Laguna Vinciguerra...another very nice place with a great lake.

 

LAPATAIA BAY: All the trek is Km 19.1.. My Av Speed was 3.6 Km/h. Effective Moving Time 5h 01 min. Stop 2h. 24 min.  Tot. Ascent 1395 mt.

During this trek you can really feel the Patagonia....You'll walk close to the lakes. Many different scenaries. You'll meet a lot of different species of animals...and a lot of types of trees....It's like beeing in a documentary of the National Geographic!!! :o)

 

GLACIAR MARTIAL:  All trek (from the port of Ushuaia) is 16.6 Km. Mov. Time 4h 42 min. Stop 4h.04 min  Av. Speed 3.5 Km/h. Tot Ascent 2372 mt. Max Elev 883 mt.

This trek is also really nice. I started with the raining and I finished with the sun. A lot of Mud during the trek...Be ready to get dirty!! ;o) You can even climb on the glacier if you are good. The Panorama from the top is Fantastic!!!!!!

 

TIERRA DEL FUEGO

 

 Flight company from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia: LAN. Originally the flight was at 12.00 but of course it was late!!!....Finally I also got my lugguage from Ieria!

Weather in Buenos Aires: Raining. Arrival to Ushuaia at 17.00. Ushuaia is a very cute town. It's the most southern town in the world. At 22.30 it's still daylight. The air is very clear. It's not cold. At 17.00 22 Celsius and at 22.00 around 16 Celsius (Unusual for this period...cause usually is colder) Many tourists of all ages and many backpackers. If you want to buy something for trekking do it in Buenos Aires. It's much cheaper. Ushuaia is a touristic places and everything is more expensive.

 

Tomorrow the trek in Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia will start.

 

 

 

Flight Palermo-Milano at 09.10 with Easy Jet....IN TIME!! After a small walk in Milano Centre I made my checkin with IBERIA! Plain was expeted to take off at 18.25. NO WAY!! It took off at 21.45! WOW!!! My coincidence in Madrid for Buenos Aires was at 00.05 so I couldn't catch it! Flight Landed to Madrid at 23.40. I run like Ben Johnson with the doping :o).(Airport of Madrid is very HUGE!!) At 23.57 I was in front of the gates U. The Staff of IBERIA wanted to check my ticket: "ok, don't worry" they said. After a while they said me:"no problem...we found a placefor you.I was so happy! I went inside the plain. I put my lugguage away. Plain was ready for the take off. I asked to a guy close to me:"Is this the flight to Buenos Aires?" He answered:" NO...we are going to Santiago del Chile!"....Nooooo....I screamed...IBERIA Staff put me in the wrong plain!!!!!

They stopped the plain....tooke me out and they said me:"don't worry.....no problem!"....Yes...infact I missed my plain!!!!!

The day after they put me in another flight...Before leaving I asked TTWICE to the IBERIA Staff: "Is my lugguage inside the plain?"...for TWICE they answered:"YES.....your lugguage is inside the plain"....Well...when I arrived to Buenos Aires I didn't get my lugguage and I am still waiting for it!!!

Anyway...a part IBERIA (Very very bad company!) People in Argentina are GREAT!!!

That's the Plan....of course everything can change.

I am very flexible....the important thing is having fun :o)

Total weight Kg 2.20. 2 Torches, Maps, Gps system (garmin gpsmap 60csx), Compass, Stoves, Dry food, Protein and Vitamins, Batteries, First Aid kit.

...Buenos Aires - Ushuaia. Ushuaia, the last town of the world...Arrival to Ushuaia. From Ushuaia, Trekking to the Glaciar Martial and Lapataia Bay.

Then straight to Puerto Natales (Chile). Trekking to Torres del Paine...I am still studying the trek.After the big trek in Torres del Paine straight to Calafate and Chalten(Argentina). Trek to Perito Moreno, Cerro Torres and Fitz Roy area.

Then, Straight to Puerto Montt(Chile) and San Carlo de Bariloches.
